What is PET Preforms?
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET, PETE) / Polyester
This resin is commonly used for carbonated beverages, water bottles, and food packaging. PET provides very good alcohol and essential oil barrier properties, generally good chemical resistance (although acetones and ketones will attack PET) and a high degree of impact resistance and tensile strength. The orienting process serves to improve gas and moisture barrier properties and impact strength. This material is not resistant at high temperature. Its maximum temperature is 200°F (93°C).
Preform is to form or shape a product to a preliminary shape and size. In easy words for PET Preforms the PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) material is formed to a shape which is like molded to a specific shape which is then afterwards blown to a bottle in the blowing machine.
There is one characteristic of PET preform, which is the product that made from it will be clear and transparent. The surface is smooth and sparking, which can attract the buyer´s attention. This makes the PET preform a delicate product. On the other hand, although the PET preform can create a similar sensation just like glass. It’s not fragile as glass. The wall is strong and tough, which appears on the container. Optimally designed preforms can save electricity, provide good strength in low weights and may cause less reject. Thorough quality checking improves efficiency and trust.
